  • State benefits for the elderly

Introduced in 1949 this form of financial aid is administered by Monaco’s City Hall Social Services. Benefits are paid to individuals of Monegasque citizenship whose financial resources are insufficient to provide them with the minimum monthly income to cover living costs. This aid is available from the age of 60 onward. Beneficiaries may also claim a “heating allowance” that is paid every year in December as well as necessity vouchers distributed five times a year.

  • Special benefits for retirees

Introduced in 1964, this form of financial aid is administered by Monaco’s City Hall Social Services. Special Benefits for retirees are served to retired workers age 60 and over who have been actively employed either in Monaco and/or abroad and who are not entitled to a state pension. Applications should be made with State Pension Services. Allowances are paid by City Hall.

  • Ad hoc social aid

This form of assistance is provided on a case-by-case basis to individuals who are either Monegasque citizens or civil servants in need of assistance for a period of time, to help them overcome painful events and situations. This form of aid is provided by the social and entertainment services of City Hall.
